Question: SoftAmbulance Uneraser stops responding before completed the scan.
Answer: If you think the product is hanged, let if run for extra few hours. If there will be no changes, you can stop the scan. First your step should be to give the product more memory by increasing swap file size. Your swap file should be fixed on manually selected value larger than 4Gb. It's also necessary in such cases to connect the drive to the motherboard directly with no any adapters, just by internal SATA or ATA interface. If you're scanning flash memory card or the drive that is smaller that amount of free space you have on another drive, you can make the image of the drive you're scanning to reduce the amount of read operations, as it may be a problem for damaged devices.Right-click to the drive in drive list and select Create Recovery Snapshot, then with anotherRight-click you can mount the recovery snapshot and scan it as usual drive. If all these steps will not help, just contact our priority support service.
Question: How can I increase my swap file size to 4 GB or more?
Answer: With Swap file your applications can use more memory than installed on your PC. If you need to increase it and don't know how to do that, you can refer to Windows help system or just open a browser, load google.com and type how to enlarge swap file for Windows XP or for Windows Vista, depending on your operating system version.
Question: In cases you can't open recovered files or even can't find them to recover.
Answer: The lost and deleted files you see after scanning in original folder structure with original names are found by scanning the file system. If there's problem with file system, the file may be recovered incorrectly, even if it has correct file name and size. There is no any code unit in our product – every time you open the file after recovery and it's coded, it means that the file has been recovered incorrectly. If you have such problem, you should try to find your file in virtual folder Recovered Files, it may be there without original name and folder, but with better recovery results. The files are placed in virtual folder Recovered Files whey they're found by direct surface scan. There is no file name or folder path available for the files in such case, but they're almost always correct and recoverable. Below is the screenshot of virtual folder Recovered Files:
Question: What's the difference between Full Scan and Fast Scan?
Answer: In Fast Scan mode Uneraser scans the file structure for the deleted and lost files. This is complex solution, but not complete, as many files may be even not listed in file system anymore, so it's possible to find them only in deep surface scan which is performed in Full Scan mode. This mode is slower, but provides better results and it's recommended for all cases except you need to recover the files ASAP.
